I’m Petula, a solo female traveler who’s visited over 50+ countries.

Like many of you, I often spend hours scouring platforms like Reddit, TripAdvisor, Lonely Planet, and Rick Steves for itinerary ideas when planning a trip. Over the years, I’ve created my own detailed guides and kept them tucked away on my phone, occasionally sharing them with friends and family when asked. Eventually, it occurred to me: why not share these itineraries more widely — not just for myself, but for anyone looking for practical travel advice? And just like that (yes, that is a SATC reference), this blog was born.

I aim to share budget-friendly tips, itineraries, and recommendations for hostels and veggie-friendly eats—plus a whole lot more.

Now, a little more about me. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and had my first experience living abroad at 16, spending a year with a host family and attending a local high school in northern Germany. After that, I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for half a year during a gap semester. I also spent a semester abroad during my undergraduate studies in Wellington, New Zealand — and now, I call Prague, Czech Republic, home.

I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything, but I find the most contentment outdoors — whether hiking, bouldering, downhill skiing, or simply soaking up the sun. My adventurous spirit led me to become a certified PADI Open Water diver at 14 on Little Corn Island, Nicaragua, and later, at 20, to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

When I’m not out exploring, I enjoy drinking tea, reading, listening to bossa nova/jazz house/psychedelic rock, and attempting to cook vegetarian meals. I recently upgraded from my iPhone to a Fujifilm X100, and I’m excited to start sharing travel photos alongside my blog posts.
